PostDoc workshop: Developing as a Researcher: Productivity and Leadership (June 1)

UiODoc would like to invite all postdocs at UiO to a career training workshop. The presenter will be Dr. Kerstin Fritsches from PostdocTraining, who is a specialist in professional development for early career researchers.

To succeed long term in a highly competitive environment researchers must develop productive working habits as well as the ability to motivate and lead others.

This full-day interactive workshop will provide advice and resources that researchers can apply straight away to help improve their productivity. The focus will then shift to the skills needed to motivate and lead others and create highly effective teams. Participants will explore their own strengths, leadership styles and challenges, and work through how to develop a leader’s mindset and improve leadership skills in a research setting.

The workshop is designed to be highly practical and ensure attendees come away with plenty of new ideas and tools to help them improve continuously as leaders at any level.

Programme:

Session 1 - How to manage time for higher productivity

Session 2 - The leadership challenge

Session 3 - Communicating as a leader

Session 4 - Building a team, whether you are the boss or not

This event is organized in cooperation with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences but is opened for all the postdocs at UiO.

About the presenter, Dr. Kerstin Fritsches

Kerstin is a former research fellow in neuroscience whose 12-year research career gave her first-hand experience of the challenges facing early career researchers, and a strong track record in postdoc affairs and career development.

A lack of effective career training for PhDs led Kerstin to found PostdocTraining in 2011, to bridge a gap in professional development by delivering support tailored specifically for early career researchers. PostdocTraining delivers career development support and mentoring for researchers worldwide, and Kerstin has become a sought-after workshop facilitator on topics such as career planning and research leadership in Europe and Australia.
