PhD and PostDoc breakfast club: What to do when your PhD project doesn’t progress

Join us to reflect on what we can do when we meet obstacles to the progress in our projects — and enjoy the insights from the PhD experience from Vincent Cuminetti over coffee and breakfast in company with other temporary researchers!

A child is standing at the end of a huge stairs that seems to small for him

You can feel small as a PhD and the steps needed to move forward in our projects can feel huge

In this interactive session titled “What to do when your PhD project doesn’t progress”, former PhD research fellow and researcher Vincent Cuminetti will discuss with the audience what are the different solutions to move forward when we feel our project is hitting a wall. We will share personal experience and try to reflect on the different solution, with an emphasis on the transition from being a student to a professional scientist.

We are delighted to welcome Vincent Cuminetti, who has an academic background in cell biology and physiology. He holds a PhD in Physiopathology from the University of Toulouse, France, where he studied the adipose tissue production of inflammatory cells and their role in the development of type 2 diabetes. He later moved to the laboratory of Dr Lorena Arranz at the University of Tromsø to work on deciphering novel signaling pathways in the regulation of blood stem cells in acute myeloid leukemia. Following Dr Arranz relocation at the University of Oslo where she is Associate Professor and deputy director of CRESCO center of excellence, he works now as a researcher in her group.
