Seminar: PhD, so what?

UiODoc, your interest organization, would like to invite you to a seminar entitled "PhD, so what? Jobs and skills outside Academia".

The purpose of this seminar is to give PhDs and postdocs an overview of work opportunities outside academia, what generic skills employers value, and how to get those skills during or after your research education. Several leading employers (both in the public and private sector) that actively recruit PhDs from several fields will share their experience and give their perspectives for careers outside academia. Additionally, we will have talks from PhD graduates that made the jump to the outside world, and hear about their experiences first-hand.

Contributors include Karrieresenteret at UiO, Forskningsrådet, Bioteknologinemda, McKinsey, Det Norske Veritas, Build2Grow and Abelia.

The seminar is focused on generic skills acquired in research, and PhD students and postdocs of all areas are welcome. We hope this will be a great opportunity to meet & mingle with other researchers, so we would love to see you there!

The seminar will be held in English.
