Ingvild Bergom Lunde recently wrote an opinion piece in Khrono with a series of advice to PhD candidates who experience that cooperation is poor, their work environment problematic and the collaboration with their supervisor(s) challenging. She will talk through her advice, position it within the ongoing public debate on working conditions for PhD candidates, relate it to mental health and share two stories that PhD candidates have shared with her after the opinion piece was published, one of them is the current complaint case at the University of Agder. She will end on an optimistic note; one of the strong forces for cultural and systematic changes in academia, Maria Toft with many other researchers in the Nordic countries, is initiating a movement towards an academia based on the ethics of care and trust.
