PhD and Postdoc Breakfast Club: Intercultural Communication

For October’s edition of PPBC, we are delighted to welcome back Sølvi Haavik, an Adviser at the Studies Section of the MN Faculty, to share her valuable insight into the world of intercultural communication.

With experience working and studying on 4 different continents, one of Sølvi's key roles at the University of Oslo is to give seminars and lectures on intercultural competence - with the upcoming PPBC presentation focusing on how to communicate more effectively with people from cultural backgrounds other than our own.

Although life as a PhD or PostDoc may feel like we are isolated to our office and institute, the reality is that research represents a truly global arena. Therefore, awareness around the nuances of intercultural communication is integral for inevitable cross-border collaborations and the global dissemination of our findings.

So, we invite you to join us on Friday 29th October, enjoy a free breakfast, and learn some valuable lessons to take with you on your PhD or PostDoc journey.

Remember to sign up via the nettskjema for catering purposes, with breakfast served from 8:30am.
