Parat UiO is a trade union at the University of Oslo. We are politically independant, and we draw members from all categories of employees at the university and are represented at all the faculties.
Parat UiO is a part of the main trade union "Parat" (the name means "ready" or "being on the alert". Our organisation is represented in all sectors of Norwegian professional life - the private sector as well as the public sector, Our members belong to all parts of Norwegian vocational life. This is a strength of our organisation: It also means that if you change work to another sector there will still be a Parat organisation which can represent you and defend your interests.
With its more than 30,000 members, Parat is organised under the Confederation of Vocational Unions (Norwegian abbreviation: YS), which is an umbrella organisation for all politically independent organizations for employees such as our own.
