Results of the 2.5.1 negotiations - 2024

On Friday 14.02.25, Unio, Akademikerne and the employer at UiO signed a protocol from the local wage negotiations (BCA 2.5.1). The framework for the wage settlement of 2024 was 2.7%. The local branch of Forskerforbundet/ NAR at UiO negotiated on behalf of all Unio members at UiO.

1. Unio members (registered as of 1 May) will be given a general supplement of 2.1 % added to their individual salary. The effective date is 5 June 2024. A separate protocol on this was signed in December 2024.

2. The parties have also negotiated individual supplements for many Unio members. The funds set aside for this purpose was initially 0.6 %. The result shows that individual offers to Unio members for this purpose ended up at approximately 0.9 %.

Unio state went on strike in May 2024 after the state wanted to force Unio to switch to a different basic collective agreement. After a decision in the National Wages Board in November, Unio was allowed to keep its agreement.

It was important for Unio to ensure a good settlement for our groups with higher education. At the same time, we must continue the work of catching up with the backlog in our sector and continue to even out differences.

In the 2024 settlement, Unio has also paid particular attention to archaeologists (advisor 1434) where the average salary was 600,000 a year. This has long been a vulnerable group characterized by a lot of temporary work. KHM supported our claims by recognizing several of our members in terms of salary, and in addition providing code conversion for several within this group.

Furthermore, Unio wanted to look at researchers with professorial qualifications (researcher 1183) who had low salary levels. It is important to recognize the high scientific quality of the researchers in this group. Here, the MN faculty in particular met our claims in the negotiations, and this forms the basis for further work.

The result shows that Unio continues to do well in the local negotiations.

Despite good results for those of our members who received individual promotions, there is still a large salary lag for knowledge workers at UiO. We believe that UiO as an employer should be willing to add extra funds to the pot for the local negotiations, as we have seen that other employers in the higher education sector have chosen to do.

In Norwegian working life, the degree of union membership is high, and we believe that it is important to continue to stand together for good, collective agreements. Unio will continue to work to recruit members, and we also encourage employers to inform employees in both Norwegian and English about the tripartite cooperation and the Norwegian model.
