Every autumn when the sausages are ripe the realist society hold their autumn sausage party. We eat, drink, and entertain
SMASH is the big student orchestra festival in Norway. This time in Ås, just outside of Oslo
The Norwegian Tax-Office are having an Octoberfest, and we will entertain them

The realistsociety (RF) are having their Octoberfest, and we will entertain by playing traditional German OctoberFest Music.
Blindern Haarn oc Blaese (the orchestra at "Blindern Studenthjem") are celebrating their 60th year with a big party at Blindern
As part of semesterstart, we participate in the Pub-crawl all around campus
The Gallabreakfast is the Realist Societys celebration of May 17th.(more on this day on Wikipedia). Here its a nive breakfast buffet, speaches, toasts, music, a parade and someone gets to swim in a fountain.
This obviously takes place on the morning of may 17th, when the spring is showing itself from its best side and we all can remember nice dresses, ice-cream, sodas and the good times of yesteryear. Additionally there are some historical aspects to this day, as many of the party-traditions experienced are more than 150 years old. This is how the students partied in the early 1800s, drinker beer like a runner drinks water during a burning hot New York Marathon. It's never a dull moment on this Gallabreakfast and it should absolutely be experienced!

However, kindergartens do not but often have their own parades in the days leading up to may 17th. Around UiO there are several kindergartens (most affiliated either directly with UiO or with SIO) that rely on us for providing the musical backing a parade should entail. This day (or days) is often long and tiresome, but also one of the funniest and nicest in the year.
Usually, on the evening of the 16th we also have our Generale (General assembly), and on the morning the 17th it's the Galla breakfast with the Realist Society

As most students are busy during November and December, we traditionally hold out Christmas parties in march. Here people bring traditional and untraditional Christmas Food, and some even enjoy themselves.
This is a grand opportunity to try out Norwegian Christmas Food if you haven't allready!
This year We'll be at Lucs place which is just of campus
As part of the "Bjørnegildet" festival, RF is hosting a Pub-Crawl in Vilhelm Bjerknes' Hus. There will be 13 different pubs placed throughout the building and we shall have our own complete with an organ and a piano! No playing this evening, except for the pianists
The Realist Society are opening their big festival "Biørnegildet", and we shall lend impact (audible that is). we're just playing 3-4 simple tunes that rock and jive.
