About NTL

The Norwegian Civil Service Union (NTL) is a trade union for civil servants, organizing approximately 50 000 members throughout the state and public sector.

NTL UiO is the only trade union organizing employees from all sections of the University of Oslo, such as academic staff, administrative employees, technicians, students, short-term and part-time employees. This means that everyone employed at the University of Oslo can join NTL, no matter what educational background they may have and independent from their job position. Our broad composition of members ensures strength and bargaining power, as well as a fair and socially responsible wage policy.

NTL is one of the 26 national unions affiliated to The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO). LO is the largest workers' organization in Norway, comprising over 900,000 members. LO’s national unions are national organisations built up of local trade unions or departments. Each national union covers a specific trade, a branch of business, or a public service sector.

NTL is independent of all political parties.
