We will start with our regular club evenings on Tuesday 10. August 2021.
How we play at our club evenings will depend on the attendance, but we will have up to three different offers: duplicate bridge, open tables and courses.
To play duplicate bridge, one must register before the session starts. We will play two sessions, one starting at 17.30 and the next at 19.30. At least 8 players must register for each session to take place. Tournament format will depend on attendance. You can register with a preferred partner, or team up with another available player if possible. We can not guarantee such available players. We will play 10 boards, this might be increased to 12 later if time allows it. If the players wish so, we will do a short analysis the board after the board is played. Those players that have attended a course may use a printed summary of the bidding system up until one year after the completion of the course. You will have to be a member of a bridge club to attend duplicate bridge, and those who are not members in Akademisk bridgeklubb will have to pay a fee of NOK 20,- every evening they play (for one or both sessions). Results may be registered, and ranking points may be scored.
On open tables, we play one board at a time, and players may join and leave as they wish. No results will be registered. If we are more than 4 players we will substitute for every second board (or in other ways if agreed upon). Those who are not members of any bridge club may play at open tables for free two evenings. After that, membership in a bridge club is required. Those that are not members in our bridge club will have to pay a fee of NOK 20,- every evening they play. Those who are registered on our course may play for free at open tables for the whole period of the course. (Note that the club evening starts earlier than the course, and ends after the course has ended, so it is possible to play before and after each course evening.) We may play mini-bridge at open tables. Printed system sheets may be used freely at all times.
Courses are recommended for those who has not played bridge before. Each course takes six evenings and will be arranged twice each semester. Next course: link. Each course evening starts at 18.00 and last between 2 and 2.5 hours. The main focus for the lectures will be the bidding, but there will also be a lot of playing on the course. The course costs NOK 200,- for students and NOK 500,- for others. Course attendants may play at open tables for free outside the course times for as long as the course lasts. After the course, you are ready to play duplicate bridge.
