From academia to business: how to pitch your skills with BCG

The talk will be about how to transfer academic skills to business, and which skills leading management consultancies like BCG look for when recruiting new hires in general, as well as PhDs/PostDocs specifically. We will also provide a brief introduction to what management consultants do, as well as some useful tips and tricks for CV writing, application letters and case interviews.

Speakers:

Lise Loerup:

Lise Loerup is a Project Leader at the BCG Oslo office. Lise completed a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Oxford, where she focused on developing digital health solutions for improved management of patients, together with predictive models for early detection of patient deterioration. In addition, she has a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Imperial College London. She works primarily in the Healthcare sector and has experience from the medtech industry.

Øyvind Berle:

Øyvind Berle is a Project Leader at the BCG Oslo office. Øyvind holds a PhD from Department of Marine Technology at NTNU and an MSc in Industrial Economics and Technology Management, and was a visiting researcher and a Fulbright fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology for his PhD. He has five years of experience in Shipping equities research. In BCG, Øyvind has mainly focused on marine transportation services, aquaculture and commodity trading. Prior to BCG, he worked for DNB Markets as a Senior Research Analyst.
