We cordially invite geologist with interest in the late Permian and Triassic succession – in the Arctic and global – to join our 2nd  Arctic Boreal Conference and 12th International Workshop on the Permo-Triassic, Longyearbyen/ Svalbard at 78° 13’ N.

>> As of mid April we still have room for more participants, both on the conference and on the excursions.

The conference is initiated by the International Triassic Workshop Group  but is also open for all geologists. Extensive work on the late Permian and Triassic succession of Svalbard has taken place the last years. We thus expand our conference to present these results of interest to the scientific community and to the ongoing exploration companies now active in the Barents Sea. Just finished thesis work and ongoing work will also be presented, also in poster sessions.

Practical information (weather, clothing etc.)

Friday, August 28: Travel to Longyearbyen/Svalbard. Install in hotel, Introductory Meeting, Ice-Breaker
Saturday – Sunday, August 29 – 30: Conference in UNIS (University Center)
Monday, August 31: Excursion to the famous Festningen section with Permian to Tertiary rocks (Transport by ship)
Tuesday, September 1: Excursion to Sassenfjorden, Upper Permian to upper Carnian. (Transport by ship)
Wednesday, September 2: Travel home.

Optionall possibility: Excursion to the Tertiary plant fossil locality near Longyearbyen.

Oral Papers and POSTERS

We invite participants to present data in talks and posters. There will be a special session with new results from ongoing research projects involving PhD and MSc studies.

DEADLINES
To arrange accommodations we ask for an early response for participation in the conference and/or excursions on attached pre-refistration form. Please give indications before January 15, 2015.
