What is ISU

Our objective is to make your time studying in Oslo better! ISU UiO is a branch of ISU Norway, a non-profit organization run for and by international students. On a national level, we work in cooperation with the Norwegian Students Union. Here at the University of Oslo, ISU collaborates with the Student Parliament to represent the problems and concerns of international students. We mediate any problems or issues that might arise between international students and other organizations. We organize trips, sports activities, and cultural events. We also publish an international students' magazine - The Monthly Moose.

To sum it up, we aim to serve reliably as a practical, social, and cultural resource, and foremost as a moral support base. We understand that being a student is challenging enough in itself. It is even more so when far away from home, away from friends and family, in a new country with a new language. With your help we will try to foster a spirit of co-operation and understanding between the international students and the greater university community, and have fun along the way.

As a practical resource we provide information, help with orientation and do general problem solving. If we can't solve your problem or answer your question, we will help you to find someone who can. English is our working language, so if you need help in deciphering Norwegian forms, do not hesitate to ask. As a social resource we arrange or collaborate on several events throughout the year.
